COCOA NOVA

Brand Identity | Product Design | Packaging Design

I created a a premium Nigerian chocolate brand called Cocoa Nova. I paired it with a sophisticated brand identity that blends luxury, warmth, and a touch of playfulness. Collaborating with a Nigerian Montana State graduate student, we gained deeper insights into Nigeria’s chocolate industry, uncovering the under-recognition and lack of support for local farmers.

GOAL & SOLUTION

The Cocoa Nova brand identity blends playfulness with sophistication, seamlessly integrating the letters "A" and "V" with a cocoa nut. A deep blue palette evokes indulgence, while the rounded patterns and refined curves add a modern, elegant touch. Inspired by Nigeria’s under-recognized chocolate industry, the design honors its heritage and connects consumers to the roots of Nigerian cocoa, celebrating its craftsmanship and culture.

PROCESS WORK

For this project, I set out to create a visual identity that honors Nigerian heritage while bringing in a modern edge. I combined a clean, simple design with swirling patterns inspired by traditional Nigerian textiles and the organic shape of the cacao nut that symbolized movement, energy, and cultural depth. My goal was to pay tribute to Nigeria’s history of resilience and craftsmanship while creating a brand that felt fresh and adaptable. Through thoughtful typography, a balanced color palette, and intentional layout choices, I was able to blend tradition with a contemporary look, resulting in a visual identity that connects the past with the present.
